Blackout – Scottish Tour 2016

Congratulations to CMA client Mark Jeary on the success of New Room Theatre’s 2016 tour of Blackout. As well as performing, Mark also wrote and directed this production which previously appeared at the Edinburgh Festival in 2014. You can still see performances up until 22nd May.

NEW ROOM THEATRE is delighted to announce that Blackout will be touring Scottish venues this May, after a critically acclaimed, SOLD OUT run at The Tron, Glasgow in April. The tour is supported by Creative Scotland, sponsored by Castle Craig Hospital and produced by Showroom.

We’re very excited to have Paul Brotherston on board to give the show brand new, dynamic direction. We also have new lighting and sound design. The cast are confirmed as Camille Marmié (left – image by Tommy Ka Gen Wan), Beth Kovarik, Ben Clifford, Mark Jeary and Miriam Sarah Doren.

The show will be touring twelve venues, culminating with shows at Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre on 18th and 19th May. Our final show is on the beautiful Isle of Coll on 22nd May.

My first drink seemed to unlock something. I threw up, went home, woke up with a stinking hangover the next morning and thought, ‘that was fantastic, when are we doing it again?’ Blackout debuted at The Arches in Glasgow in 2013. It is an honest insight into drinking and recovery, made entirely from interviews with recovering alcoholics, including the writer.

‘Blackout is a great piece of work because it is both entertaining and important’ (Rob Drummond, award-winning playwright).

‘Full of raw impact, hard-hitting and completely hilarious in parts’ (Jamie, contributor).
